Day 11
5/10
Today I got to do some more fluke ID matching. I did this earlier in the week and I think I already explained it but basically we were matching ID photos of whales in order to track where they've been. We had six tables with photos laid out on them. These photos were of whales that were identified already. We took all of the photos that were unknown and compared them one by one to all of the known whales. This was a long and tedious process as the whales fluke serves as the animals finger print. Sometimes the flukes are hard to differentiate so you have to rely on tiny little specks and scratches on the tail to identify it. Hours: 5
