Today was kind of my first real day of senior project. The morning started off with discussing the various activities that are available to me for my time in Hawaii. My mentor, Meagan, works for Whale Trust so there are a few events with them that I can participate in. There are also some things planned with the Maui Ocean Center. So far, I will be doing an event at the ocean center and getting a behind the scenes tour of the aquarium. After talking with my mentor, I went outside for a bit to capture some b-roll for my final presentation. In the afternoon I learned from Meagans husband, Dan, about coffee. He's been growing his own coffee for about a decade. In the photo below, he is washing the beans off after they have been de-husked and fermented. Fun fact, coffee beans are fermented to remove a slimy, sugary coating on them. Hours: 1
