Today I helped Whale Trust at their outreach table in the Maui Ocean Center. Basically it we were there to put Whale Trust's name out there. We also had some videos of various whale activity with sound so you could hear whales communicating. It was very interesting to see what reactions different people made. It was also weird how some locals were super interested in the whales and others didn't care at all. After the outreach table was put away, Larissa, who used to be the head aquarist at the ocean center, took me on a behind the scenes tour of the aquarium. I will upload photos and videos in another post. This was super cool for me because even though I had been visiting the aquarium for my whole life, I had never seen how the aquarium was maintained. I also got to see the MOCMI (Maui Ocean Center Marine Institute). MOCMI is a non-profit of MOC that basically grows coral. I will hopefully be working with them next week. Hours: 6
