Week 1

This first week was really awesome so far. I can’t believe I’m already a week into senior project. This week has been really good for me to dip my toes into all of the different environmental work that's going on here. I have learned so much about many different things from coffee farming, to how to feed coral, to nutrient rich whale poop. I have also learned how to manage my time better and be more on top of my blogs… It’s definitely difficult not having my day structured like at proctor but overall its very nice to have freedom. One of the coolest things I did this week was go behind the scenes at the Maui Ocean Center. It was amazing to see behind the scenes of a place that I’ve been going to my whole life. Anyway, I most certainly like what I’ve been doing and everything has happened as expected. This weeks activities have really opened me up to so many new and interesting things to learn about. Cleaning out the storage locker also benefited me by being a different kind of work. For my goals, I’ve definitely gotten better at managing time along with experience what it’s like to work in an environmental occupation. All in all I’m having a great time. I’m making good progress on my hours and I’m learning so many new things along with experiencing the island in a whole new way.
